Our clinic is situated on the Lower South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, it offers same day appointments, this is mainly done, because we want to be as accommodating to your pain as possible, we are even open on Sundays by appointment.

This is just a simple, yet flexible guide to your Chiropractic Wellness appointment at the Shelly Beach Chiropractic Pain Joint.

Arrive timeously for your appointment. 

Rita at our reception advises a new patient to arrive about 10 minutes before your appointment time to fill out a consent form and to perform any additional admin that may be required. Our clinic is easily accessible on the main road of Shelly Beach and is situated at 53 Marine drive.

Dress code:

There is absolutely no dress code required. However, for ease of your physical examination we advise our patients to dress with lose clothes and slip on shoes, imagine you going to the gym.

Case History:

An in-depth case history will be done on your ailment, that has resulted in you visiting us. Questions like, where is the pain? How long has the pain been there for Previous history of injury etc. These are simple and easy questions to allow me to get a better “picture” of what may be causing your ailment.

The Physical examination:

This is were the lose clothing comes in, once your history has been discussed, you will complete a physical exam. Many new patients are a little apprehensive about this step. In reality, the exam is easy and there should be minimal discomfort. I may feel your spine and muscles, flex your joints, test muscle strength, test your range of motion, check your reflexes, and ask you to walk to check your gait.  This step is important because it shows us any issues that you may not have been aware of before the visit. You may have a sore back, for example, but you may not have realised that there is also pain or tightness in your neck when the range of motion in these areas are checked.

Time for the treatment:

Once your physical exam is concluded, the treatment begins . At the Shelly Beach Chiropractic Pain Joint we use specialised chiropractic treatment beds and equipment imported for the U.S.A. and Germany these beds and equipment provide different techniques like linear traction, spine mobilisation etc that help to treat joint, nerve and or muscle pain. Always remember that, at the Shelly Beach Chiropractic Pain Joint we have many tools in our tool box to manage your pain .

We normally advise a follow up treatment/appointment however this depends on your ailment, certain ailments may just require one treatment however others may require more treatments.

It is very important to finish the course of treatment appointments advised, as finishing your treatment plan of appointments will be beneficial in us helping you with the management of your ailment, also I am a big advocator of maintenance treatment, so ideally ,a chiropractic treatment once every 3 months is an excellent means to maintain a health muscle, joint and nervous system .

And as simple as that, your first chiropractic appointment and treatment is done .
